Proton vehicles don’t support Apple Car Play or Android Auto but now there’s finally a native app which allows you to play Spotify from the infotainment display. This is made possible by ACO Tech, which has announced their new partnership with the music streaming service.

The Spotify support is available through its integration with ACO Tech’s Atlas operating system which is currently available on the 2022 Proton Iriz and Persona. It works on both free ad-supported Spotify accounts as well as Spotify premium subscriptions. Existing Proton owners with Atlas infortainment headunit installed can download the Spotify app through the A store. The app will also be preloaded in Proton vehicles.

With the Spotify app, users will be able to enjoy over 82 million audio tracks and more than 4 million podcast titles directly from the headunit. Alternatively, users can also cast their content from their mobile phone using the Spotify Connect feature.

ACO Tech Sdn Bhd CEO Mr Li Pu said “I’m incredibly proud of the steady progress the team has achieved in introducing the capabilities of a humanised connected lifestyle to a wider public in Malaysia through meaningful brand collaborations. Working together with Spotify is an important milestone for ACO Tech as the partnership not only helps us to stay competitive in the smart mobility industry, it is also instrumental in easing Malaysians into the possibilities of smart and connected car technologies.”

Besides Spotify, Atlas also integrates JOOX and SYOK, which provides access to Astro Radio brands and podcasts. Last month, ACO Tech announced a partnership with UOB Malaysia and Fasspay which will enable car-based digital wallet for a seamless payment experience. They are also planning to offer a seamless refuelling experience via Five petrol stations. ACO Tech claims there are over 10,000 vehicles on the road that are equipped with Atlas and Atlas Auto app.
