Realme has introduced a new upper midrange smartphone to our shores, the Realme GT Neo 3. It’s not exactly a new device, having already been in China for a couple of months now, but is one of the few to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 5G processor in Malaysia.
The Realme GT Neo 3 is available now for purchase in Malaysia, and there will be just one configuration available here with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for RM2,099. You can get it in two different colours, namely Nitro Blue and Sprint While, and can be purchased from all their official Lazada Realme Flagship Store as well as Realme Brand Stores nationwide.
Furthermore, from now till 17 June, you’ll be able to get the GT Neo 3 for just RM1,799 on their Lazada store. Also launched by Realme are the limited edition Nitro Blue Realme Buds Air 3 earbuds which retail at RM279. However, you can get both the Realme Buds Air 3 and the GT Neo 3 in a bundle for just RM2,028.
Compared to the Realme GT Neo 2 from last year, the GT Neo 3 now has a slightly larger 6.7-inch, FHD+ AMOLED display with a 94.2% screen-to-body ratio. It also features a 120Hz refresh rate as well as HDR 10+ certification, a 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and the ability to display 10 bit colour. You’ll find a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 over the display for some scratch resistance too.
The really big change though is located under the hood, as while last year’s GT Neo 2 had a Snapdragon 870 processor, this time around the GT Neo 3 has a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 system-on-chip. The Dimensity 8100 sits just below their flagship Dimensity 9000 in the product stack, having just been released in March this year. The 5nm chip compares favourably to the likes of the Snapdragon 870 and Snapdragon 888, though remains well behind the current flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
Alongside the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC, the Realme GT Neo 3 also comes with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It runs Realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12. There’s a dedicated display processor too that supports interpolating frames and adds a motion compensation frame between two frames for smoother visuals. Keeping the silicon cool meanwhile is a 4,129mm² stainless steel vapor cooling area for heat dissipation.
In the camera department meanwhile the GT Neo 3 has a triple rear camera setup, with its primary camera being a 50MP, f/1.88 shooter using the Sony IMX766 sensor. That gets flanked by an 8MP, f/2.25 ultrawide angle camera as well as a 2MP, f/2.4 macro lens too. The front of the GT Neo 3 meanwhile has a 16MP, f/2.45 front facing camera for all your selfie needs.
Keeping the lights on is a 5,000mAh battery that has 80W SuperDart fast charging, which Realme says will be able to power up your GT Neo 3 from zero to 50% in just 12 minutes. Other features of note include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio, an in-display fingerprint sensor as well as NFC, 5G, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. The entire device weighs 188g and measures 8.2mm thick.
