The Sony Xperia 1 IV was officially unveiled last month and it’s now available for pre-order in Malaysia. This is Sony’s top-of-the-line flagship Xperia smartphone running on a Snapdragon 8 gen 1 and it claims to be the world’s first true optical zoom lens in a smartphone.
Sony Xperia 1 IV Malaysia Price
The Sony Xperia 1 mark IV is officially priced at RM6,099, which is RM300 more than the mark III. There’s only a single variant that’s configured with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
If you’re interested, the Xperia 1 IV is available for pre-order on Sony’s online store with a choice of either Black or Purple. As a pre-order promo from 10th June until 10th July 2022, Xperia 1 IV buyers will receive a Sony WF-1000XM4 wireless noise cancelling headphones worth RM1,099 for free, while stocks last. The Sony Xperia 1 IV units are expected to be available locally in July after the pre-order period ends.
Sony Xperia IV Malaysia Spec
The Sony Xperia IV features a 6.5″ 4K OLED display that pushes a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. As mentioned earlier, it runs on the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 chip with 5G support mated to 12GB of RAM. Onboard it has 256GB of storage which is still expandable via microSD card up to 1TB extra.
The main highlight is its photography capabilities which feature a triple 12MP camera setup. It gets a 12MP 24mm main camera that uses a 1/1.7″ sensor, a 12MP 16mm ultra-wide-angle camera with a 1/2.5″ sensor, and a 12MP 85-125mm telephoto zoom lens that offers true 3.5-5x optical magnification on a 1/3.5″ sensor. All three cameras get ZEISS T* coating for reduced reflections.
As you would expect from a flagship Xperia smartphone, it supports Sony’s optical SteadyShot, eye autofocus, real-time tracking and 4K video recording at 120fps. For selfies, it gets a 12MP front camera which is an upgrade from 8MP on the previous mark III model.
Sony has also retained front-facing stereo speakers and the device still comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack which is extremely rare for 2022 flagships. Similar to its predecessor, there’s also IP68-rated dust and water resistance.
Powering the device is a larger 5,000mAh battery which supports 30W fast charging via USB-C as well as Qi wireless charging. With a compatible fast-wired charger, you can get a 50% charge in 30 minutes. Like most green packaging initiatives, Sony has excluded the charger from the box of the Xperia 1 IV.
