Acer introduced the Acer Aspire Vero back in November last year, which an eco-conscious laptop built out of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic while packing some solid hardware under the hood. There was also a Nat Geo theme version of it released here just last month too. Perhaps considering the positive reaction to its green laptop, Acer is now expanding its Vero lineup with two new Acer Vero refreshes, as well as a Vero all-in-one desktop too.
Acer Aspire Vero 2022 specs
Starting off with the new Aspire Vero, there’s now two configurations of the Aspire Vero, available with either 14-inch or 15-inch FHD displays. Both will now be powered by 12th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics and WiFi 6 connectivity, along with USB-C Thunderbolt 4 and USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports. There’s not much other information on things like RAM and storage, but Acer did say that they will be user-replaceable to prevent eWaste down the line.
The laptops continue the same design spirit as the original Aspire Vero, utilising at least 30% of PCR plastic in its chassis, with a further 30% PCR plastic in the bezels and 50% PCR plastic in the keycaps of the laptop. The Acer Aspire Vero 14 will come in Cobblestone Grey or Mariana Blue, while the Acer Aspire Vero 15 comes in either Cobblestone Grey or Starry Black. However, despite the new colour options there’s actually no paint on the laptops themselves.
The packaging itself is recyclable too, with the laptop’s inner packaging capable of being reused as a multipurpose box. Acer even showed off other ways to reuse it, such as turning parts of the packaging into a cat bed for your cat to sit, or folded into a triangular laptop stand or even be used as a degradable pot for plants. Acer has used 85% recycled paper for the box and 100% industrial recycled plastic for the laptop sleeve, while even the ink used is a water-based print free of toxic materials.
Just like the Acer Swift 3 OLED and Acer Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition that were also announced yesterday, Acer Malaysia has not provided any local pricing or availability details just yet but you can expect them in Malaysia sometime later in the year. We do know though that both the Aspire Vero 14 and Aspire Vero 15 will be available elsewhere starting at USD749.99 (~RM3,302.06).
Acer Veriton Vero specs
The Veriton name has typically referred to Acer’s more busines-focused pre-built desktops, but the new Acer Veriton Vero seems a bit more at home in a home than your usual office cubicle. For starters, it’s not even just a regular desktop tower but rather is an all-in-one desktop PC, focused on eco-minded users who want to work from home with a space-efficient computer. The body is built out of 30% post-consumer recycled material, and houses a 24-inch, FHD IPS display with an 88% screen-to-body ratio with Acer BlueLightShield and Acer Flickerless technology to reduce eye strain.
Under the hood, it comes with up to 12th Gen Intel Core i9 processors and can be configured with up to 64GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM and up to 2TB of SSD storage. However, judging from how it comes with a laptop-grade NVIDIA GeForce MX550 graphics card, the processor is likely a mobile chip, just like other Acer all-in-one desktops. It will also come with WiFi 6E, USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports as well as a discrete TPM 2.0 chip for improved security. The flippable 5MP webcam meanwhile lets you switch from projecting yourself to the rest of the room in a video conference while also supporting Windows Hello.
Elsewhere, the back of the Veriton Vero has a VESA mount for if you’d like to wall mount it or switch the monitor stand. Bundled in the box is a keyboard and mouse that’s made of PCR material too. The packaging itself is recyclable, while the screws holding it together can be easily removed for if you’d like to make some quick upgrades or repair it to prevent eWaste.
The Acer Veriton Vero doesn’t have any local pricing or availability details just yet, but should arrive in Malaysia later in the year. In the US, the Veriton Vero will start at USD799 (~RM3,517.84).
