What is the best way to make payments? | Ask Us Anything

Welcome back to another episode of Ask Us Anything where we gather your questions from the internet and answer them. On today’s episode, what’s your favorite non- cash payment method and what is the best smartphone with a Kirin 990 processor? Find out more details on today’s episode.

What is the best smartphone with a Kirin 990 processor

So a little back story about this processor. The Kirin 990 processor was announced during IFA 2019 and it was first used on the Huawei Mate 30.And as we all know, due to the US restrictions, Huawei couldn’t include Google Mobile Services on their newer devices which include the Kirin 990.

Now back to your question, I think the Kirin 990 is a little outdated because it has almost been 4 years since Huawei introduced this processor. But if you really want, I guess the best smartphone that comes with this processor is probably the Huawei P40 series, which was launched back in 2020.

But if you don’t mind not having GMS on your phone, you can consider the Huawei P50 series. These devices are powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor, which is pretty capable. And they don’t come with 5G support. But that’s what I think, let me know your thoughts in the comment section below too.

Apple Watch SE or Amazfit GTR 2e

If you already own apple devices like the iPad, iPhone or MacBook, the Apple Watch complements the Apple ecosystem experience.

With the Apple watch you can automatically unlock your MacBook when you’re wearing your Apple Watch and you have access to Watch apps from the App Store including the new Setel Watch app, where you can pay for petrol from your wrist.

But I guess the only disadvantage that I can see with the Apple Watch is the battery life, because my colleagues who own an Apple Watch have to charge their devices every 2 days even if they are not doing anything serious.

What is your favourite non-cash payment system

Personally I like using e wallets and the ones that I use often are Touch and Go eWallet and GrabPay.I think they are super convenient and the fact that they are tied to your debit or credit card makes payment even easier because whenever your balance is low, you can instantly top up your ewallet and you are basically good to go. Plus, I don’t really like bringing my wallet out if I’m going somewhere nearby, so the fact that I have my phone with me always makes me feel safe.

You can also use e wallets to collect points. For example, you can gather your points from GrabPay whenever you make a purchase with the ewallet and when if you have enough points you can redeem rewards. For example, you can get RM5 off your Grab rides with 800 points, or get RM10 off your Grab Food with 1,440 points. Plus, you use Setel and topup using GrabRegards, you can earn both Mesrapoints and GrabReward Points. You can also use GrabReward Points to top up your Setel wallet.

And if you are talking about credit cards, it really depends on the bank itself. Because different banks offer different benefits. But generally they are all points la and they are not as convenient to redeem as ewallet which is more instant.
