Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) has announced that more Samsung Galaxy A series devices are compatible with their national 5G network. Besides the Galaxy A73 5G, the more affordable Galaxy A33 5G and A53 5G were also added to its list of currently supported devices.

At the moment, Yes 5G is the first and only telco to offer 5G services in Malaysia on DNB’s single wholesale network. If you have the SIM with a 5G-enabled plan, you should be able to enjoy 5G connection on a supported Samsung device after getting the latest software update. If you haven’t received any update notification yet, you can check manually under Settings > Software Update.

When DNB launched its 5G network in December, it didn’t support any Apple or Samsung devices. DNB clarified that it wasn’t responsible for certifying and approving 5G devices. At the time of writing, both the Samsung Galaxy S21 and S22 series are able to connect to the network. However, other Samsung 5G-ready models including the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are still not supported yet.

Besides Samsung devices, DNB has also updated that the latest Vivo X80 5G and X80 Pro 5G are also compatible with their network.

Yes 5G currently offers unlimited 5G access on their RM30 FT5G prepaid and RM49 FT5G postpaid plans. If you just want to give the plan a try, Yes is also offering free SIM cards with unlimited 5G for 30 days. The free 5G data offer has been extended until further notice.
