Vivo Malaysia has officially launched its new X80 smartphone series. These are their latest flagship devices that are running on top-of-the-line processors from both Qualcomm and MediaTek. In fact, the Vivo X80 appears to be the first smartphone in Malaysia to run on a Dimensity 9000 chip.
Here are the official pricing for the Vivo X80 and X80 Pro in Malaysia:
The X80 is offered in either Urban Blue or Cosmic Black, while the X80 Pro comes only in Cosmic Black. If you’re interested, both models are available for pre-order starting today on all authorised Vivo channels throughout Malaysia including Lazada and Shopee.
As part of their a pre-order promo, Vivo is throwing extra freebies worth up to RM1,555. This includes a Vivo TWS 2e for the X80 and a 50W Vertical Wireless Flash Charger for the X80 Pro. Both devices also come with a 1 for 1 exchange guarantee within 100 days as well as 1-year battery protection extended warranty.
The Vivo X80 Pro 5G is the highest spec model in the series featuring a 6.78″ WQHD+ (3200×1400 pixels) AMOLED display and it has a high 120Hz refresh rate. It also gets a 3D Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which claims to be able to unlock in just 0.2 seconds. Vivo also claims that the ultrasonic sensor is 11.1 times bigger than traditional single-point fingerprint sensors and it even supports two-finger authentication for enhanced privacy protection.
Under the hood, it runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and has 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device also has an “Extended RAM” feature which can add 4GB RAM extra using available storage.
Photography is one of the key highlights of the Vivo X80 Pro and the cameras are “co-engineered” with Zeiss. The rear has a huge camera bump with three cameras mounted on the circular element and there is an additional shooter on the bottom left of the larger rectangular bump. According to the spec sheet, it gets a 50MP main camera with “Ultra-Sensing GNV sensor”, a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 12MP “gimbal” portrait camera and an 8MP periscope telephoto camera.
The device also features a customised Vivo V1+ chip that promises to offer professional-level visual enhancement with AI assistance. For selfies, the tiny punch-hole on the screen houses a 32MP front camera. As you would expect from a premium flagship-class device, the X80 Pro gets dual-stereo speakers as well as IP68-rated dust and water resistance.
Powering the X80 Pro 5G is a 4,700mAh battery that supports Vivo’s 80W Flash Charge and 50W wireless FlashCharge. Vivo claims that you can get a full charge in just 35 minutes. Out of the box, it runs on Android 12 with Vivo’s FunTouch OS 12 skin on top.
The Vivo X80 is the cheaper alternative and it’s priced RM1,500 lower than the X80 Pro. It gets a 6.78″ Full HD+ AMOLED display which also supports a high 120Hz refresh rate. Instead of a Qualcomm chip, the device runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage.
In the camera department, it settles for a triple-camera setup consisting of a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 12MP portrait camera that doubles as a telephoto shooter.
The X80’s battery is slightly smaller at 4,500mAh and still supports 80W Flash Charge via USB. However, it loses out on wireless charging support.
