The year is 2022. It’s no longer a time where you should be settling for a lousy camera or lousy display. Those were the “premium” features on flagships of the yesteryear, but in the modern day, these should be important considerations when buying smartphones—even one that’s in the affordable camp.
Why? Well, every year, more and more of us consume content on our smartphones. The smartphone has also become the most popular camera of our generation, not to mention how vital it is to our daily lives.
Samsung understands this, which is why they’re making it a priority on their affordable Galaxy A 2022 smartphones. And perhaps the best example of this is the brand new Galaxy A53 5G.
Up front, this smartphone sees a large 6.5” Infinity-O Super AMOLED display that looks gorgeous. It pushes a resolution of Full HD+ as well as a resolution of 120Hz. This means you get all the crisp detail you’d want on a smartphone screen, but also a velvety smooth scrolling experience thanks to that fast refresh rate.
It’s a common misconception that high refresh rate screens are only for those who game on their smartphones. But it actually makes a big difference throughout the entire user experience. Menus are smoother, websites scroll better and animations are just so much more satisfying on a fast refresh rate display.
Seeing how important visuals are to a smartphone experience, the Galaxy A53 5G also comes with a capable 64MP quad camera setup. This camera system is spearheaded by a 64MP main wide camera with an f/1.8 aperture lens. It also features optical image stabilisation so you won’t have to worry about your shaking hands getting in the way of a great moment.
Along with this, you’re also getting a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro camera and a 5MP depth camera for extra versatility. If selfies are more your thing, there’s also a 32MP selfie shooter up front.
But hardware is only a part of the equation for what makes a good camera. A smartphone’s camera prowess is often heavily dependent on the “smart” part of a smartphone. Luckily, the Galaxy A53 5G has that in spades.
One of the most important aspects of any smartphone’s camera performance has to do with their ability to take photos when the going gets dark. Sure, you may not do a lot of photography at night, but good low-light also works wonders for indoor shots or shots where lighting in general isn’t great.
Samsung developed a Night Mode feature that is designed to produce brighter and clearer photos even at night. This is done through a smarter NPU and faster GPU on the Exynos 1280 SoC. This allows the camera to use advanced AI to combine up to 12 images into one via multi-frame processing to produce the best image.
These camera smarts also extend to the smartphone’s ability to erase unwanted objects from your photos after you’ve taken the shot. It even features a feature called Photo Remaster which can reportedly turn blurry and old-faded photos, vivid and clear.
The Galaxy A53 5G also features an advanced Portrait Mode which sees improved spatial recognition thanks to the Depth Camera. It’ll also allow users to add portrait lighting effects to really change the mood and feel of a portrait image.
Speaking of the multi-camera system on the Galaxy A53 5G, you can also do some cool things with the ultra-wide lens. For starters, the phone will automatically suggest that you switch to the ultra-wide camera when it recognises the scene. Then, you can also combine that with immersive ultra-wide panorama shots to take even 360-degree photos!
Don’t settle for a sub-par camera on a sub-par smartphone with a sub-par display. Get yourself a brand new Galaxy A53 5G today. If you prefer something more affordable, you can also get the Galaxy A33 5G, or if you want the most capable mid-ranger Samsung makes, there’s always the Galaxy A73 5G.
