Lamborghini is auctioning their last ever Aventador as an NFT with Steve Aoki

Petrol heads might have heard that famed Italian marque Lamborghini are set to retire their legendary Aventador soon, as part of the car manufacturer’s move towards electrifying their lineup this decade. The latest Lamborghini Aventador will become their last sports car with a naturally-aspirated V12 engine under the hood, and to mark the occasion, Lamborghini will be auctioning off the last Aventador to roll off the assembly line together with a one-of-one NFT.

Specifically, the car in question is the Lamborghini LP 780-4 Ultimae Coupe. It packs a V12 engine with 6,498cm3 of displacement, capable of 574kW of power and 720Nm of torque. Lamborghini says you’ll be able to reach 100km/h from a standing start in just 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 355km/h. The body itself is built using a carbon fiber monocoque with aluminum front and rear frames.

As part of the NFT project, the last Lamborghini Aventador ever produced will be auctioned off along with an NFT. And because it’s the last ever Lamborghini Aventador, they’ve teamed up with digital artist Krista Kim and musician Steve Aoki for this NFT project. Krista Kim has created the visual artwork for the NFT which will be a digital replica of the car itself, which the Italian company is claiming to be the first Lamborghini for the metaverse. Alongside Kim is Steve Aoki, who will create the bespoke soundtrack for the NFT project as well as a consulting role on the design of the NFT.

It’s also not the first time we’ve seen a Lamborghini car sold as an NFT. Earlier this year, an artist by the name of Shl0ms blew up a Lamborghini Huracan and collected 888 pieces of its, um, remains and sold them off as NFTs. Lamborghini themselves also tried their hands at NFTs before this, releasing their first NFT project back in February comprising of the digital NFT along with a piece of carbon fiber that Lamborghini had sent to space and back.

As for the Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae Coupe NFT, the auction will be done via RM Sotherby’s and will happen on the 19th of April. For more information on their NFT auction, you can click here to visit the auction page itself.
