Xiaomi’s mid-range Redmi Note 11 lineup has gotten a lot bigger with the addition of two new 5G models – the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G and the Redmi Note 11S 5G. Both devices run on MediaTek processors with 5G while the Pro Plus model gets additional perks including 120W Xiaomi HyperCharge, 108MP main camera and stereo speakers enhanced by JBL.
Here’s the official pricing for the new Redmi Note 11 series devices in Malaysia:
The Redmi Note 11S 5G comes in three colours – Midnight Black, Twilight Blue and Star Blue. Meanwhile, the 11 Pro Plus 5G model comes in three colours – Graphite Grey, Forest Green and Star Blue.
In terms of availability, the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G will go on sale on 6th April 2022 on Lazada and Shopee. As part of its flash sales promo, early birds can enjoy RM100 off with the 128GB model going for RM1,399 while the 128GB model is going for RM1,499.
The cheaper Redmi Note 11S 5G will be available much later on 22nd April 2022 at Xiaomi authorised stores and retailers nationwide as well as Lazada and Shopee.
For reference, here’s the pricing of the other Redmi Note 11 models that were introduced last month:
The Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G is currently the top-of-the-line model of the series which comes with a 6.67″ Full HD+ AMOLED display that pushes 120Hz refresh rate and touch sampling rate up to 360Hz. The screen has a peak brightness of 1200 nits and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Similar to the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, it gets a flat edge design but you’ll know that this is a “Plus” model due to a slight tweak to the camera bump design which highlights the main camera.
Under the hood, it runs on a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 920 chip, which should provide an upper hand in performance over the Snapdragon 695 5G chip on the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G model. The Plus model gets 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and a choice between 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which can be expanded via microSD card up to 1TB.
In the camera department, it gets a 108MP f/1.8 Samsung HM2 1/1.52″ sensor for its main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro lens. For selfies, the tiny punch-hole on the display houses a 16MP front camera.
For a better audio experience, the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G also gets dual-speakers with Sound by JBL and it still comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G also gets IP53-rated splash resistance. Besides enabling 5G connectivity, it also supports WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and it comes with an Infrared blaster.
Powering the device is a 4,500mAh battery which is surprisingly smaller than the non-Plus model’s 5,000mAh capacity. However, it supports a faster 120W HyperCharge fast charging with the charger included in the box. The phone’s battery is actually split into dual 2,250mAh cells and Xiaomi claims that it can get a 100% charge in only 15 minutes under “Boost mode”. Out of the box, it runs on Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 skin on top.
The Redmi Note 11S 5G is essentially the most affordable new Redmi Note device with 5G support. This isn’t merely a Redmi Note 11S upgraded with 5G and it looks more like a rehashed Poco M4 Pro 5G with a couple of minor tweaks. The device features a 6.6″ Full HD+ display, which is likely to be an IPS panel, and it supports up to 90Hz refresh rate and up to 240Hz touch sampling rate.
Under the hood, it runs on a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 810 with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage which is expandable via microSD card up to 1TB. For taking pictures, it gets a triple-camera setup at the rear which includes a 50MP f/1.8, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and an extra 2MP macro shooter. There’s also a 13MP selfie camera up front on a tiny punch-hole which is slightly lower resolution than the 16MP front camera found on the Poco M4 Pro 5G.
Also retained are stereo speakers, 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR blaster. Powering the device is a large 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging. The 33W power brick is also included. Out of the box it runs on Android 11 with MIUI 13 skin on top.
