Bored with hairless controllers? Xbox has a furry Sonic the Hedgehog controller for you

Remember the Sonic the Hedgehog movie? Well, back in 2020 they announced that they were going to make a sequel for it, and it’s set to be released soon in April. And in the build up to the premiere, Paramount Pictures have teamed up with Microsoft and Xbox to release special Sonic the Hedgehog-themed controllers… covered in fur.

Well it’s not actually just furry controllers up for grabs here. There’s also going to be a limited time only custom Xbox Series S that has the iconic gold portal ring along with an embossed Sonic the Hedgehog 2 logo. As for the controllers, they come with a ‘textured coating’ reminiscent of the bristly texture of hedgehogs, similar to the furry material on a shaggy carpet. These new furry Xbox controllers come in two new colours too, aptly named Sonic Blue and Knuckles Red.

On top of that, Sonic fans can also soon explore iconic maps of the franchise such as Green Hills Zone on the new Sonic the Hedgehog Minecraft DLC. It’s available for download on the Minecraft Marketplace and has 24 Sonic-themed Minecraft skins to try out along with a bunch of new achievements to unlock and characters to meet. There will be rings that you can collect in game too. And on the 5th of April, a new update for the DLC will come with six extra skins and a new challenge in the Labryrinth Zone in conjunction with the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie release.

For a chance to win the Sonic the Hedgehog Xbox Series S and furry controllers, you’ll need to retweet the Xbox Twitter account’s sweepstakes tweet and include the hashtag #XboxSonic2Sweepstakes, while those in the US can also join the contest by redeeming Microsoft Rewards points. Unfortunately, Malaysians won’t be able to actually win these furry Xbox controllers as the contest for it will be only open to countries with Xbox Live support.
