OnePlus has officially launched the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G in Malaysia after weeks of teasing fans. This new iteration of the Nord CE gets a minor price bump and is available for pre-order starting today.
The OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G is priced at RM1,499 and comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There are two colour options to choose from – Gray Mirror and Bahama Blue.
You can pre-order the phone from 14th until 18th of March 2022 via the official OnePlus store on Shopee. As a pre-order bonus, you will receive a pair OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Bass Edition wireless headphones.
The device will be officially available during the first-day sale on Saturday, 19th of March 2022.
Last year’s OnePlus Nord CE 5G was available in either 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Moreover, the base variant was priced at RM1,399, which is RM100 less compared to the Nord CE 2 5G.
On the front, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G gets the familiar 6.43” Full HD+ AMOLED with a 90Hz refresh rate. This time around, OnePlus has opted for a MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor. This is a departure from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor that powered last year’s Nord CE 5G. That being said, the Dimensity 900 is positioned as an upper-midrange processor just like the Snapdragon 750G.
The Nord CE 2 5G is mated to 8GB of LPDDR4x memory and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. There is also a microSD card expansion slot that supports up to 1TB.
Selfie duties are handled by a 16MP camera located inside a punch-hole cut-out on the front display. Flipping to the rear, you will find a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro lens.
In terms of thickness, the Nord CE 2 5G is 0.1mm thinner compared to the Nord CE 5G at 7.8mm and still retains the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Powering OnePlus’ new mid-range smartphone is a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W SuperVOOC fast charging via USB-C. Expect to get around 80% charge in just over 30 minutes.
Besides offering 5G connectivity, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G supports 802.11ac WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.2 and also supports NFC.
Out of the box, it runs on OxygenOS 11 on top of Android 11. The device will receive two major Android OS updates and three years of security updates promised by OnePlus. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out our first impressions article of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G here.
