Motorola Edge 30 Pro is Malaysia’s most affordable Snapdragon 8 gen 1 powered phone, priced at RM2,699

The Motorola Edge 30 Pro which runs on Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 gen 1 chip is now available for pre-order in Malaysia. This is probably the best value-for-money flagship at the moment and it is priced under RM3,000.

Motorola Edge 30 Pro Malaysia Price

The Motorola Edge 30 Pro with 256GB of storage is officially priced at RM2,699 in Malaysia and pre-orders are now available via Shopee and Lazada. On top of that, you can get an extra RM100 off if you pre-order between 4th to 8th March 2022.

The device is only offered in a single Cosmos Blue colour option and stocks are expected to arrive next week on the 10th March 2022. The arrival of the Edge 30 Pro comes as a surprise since Lenovo Malaysia only introduced the Motorola Edge 20 Pro with a Snapdragon 870 for RM2,099 less than 3 months ago.

Motorola Edge 30 Pro Malaysia Specs

The Motorola Edge 30 Pro is essentially the global version of the Motorola Edge X30 that was launched in China but there are some slight differences. Upfront it shares a similar 6.7″ Full HD+ OLED display that pushes a 144Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. Under the hood, it runs on the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Interestingly, the global page states that the Edge 30 Pro also supports an optional stylus but it doesn’t seem to be offered in Malaysia.

In the camera department, the Edge 30 Pro gets a triple-camera setup that consists of a 50MP f/1.8 1/1.5″ main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 2MP depth camera. The Edge 30 Pro is capable of shooting 8K videos. For selfies, the device gets a high-resolution 60MP selfie camera that sits on a centre-aligned punch-hole.

In terms of audio, the Motorola Edge 30 Pro gets dual stereo speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos but it lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. Despite having an OLED screen, it uses a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with water resistance as it gets a rating of just IP52.

Powering the Edge 30 Pro device is a 4,800mAh battery, which is slightly smaller than the X30’s 5,000mAH battery. It supports 68W TurboPower charging via USB-C which claims to deliver over 50% charge in 15 minutes. There’s also 15W wireless charging that supports 5W reverse wireless charging. The device also supports 5G as well as WiFi 6E connectivity. Out of the box, it runs on Android 12.

If the Samsung Galaxy S22 is out of your budget and you can’t wait for the Xiaomi 12 to arrive, this is probably the next best alternative if you’re looking for a Snapdragon 8 gen 1 smartphone. With a price tag of RM2,699, it undercuts other 2022 flagship smartphones in Malaysia including the Galaxy S21 FE. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
