Setel has launched its delivery service but it isn’t available yet for end consumers

Setel is no longer just an eWallet app for fuel and retail payments. The wholly-owned digital platform by Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) has launched Setel Express which aims to revolutionise the delivery space with seamless service.

Setel Express is actually a rebrand of Logistika, which is a Business to Business (B2B) service. It was launched in September 2020 with just four hubs in the Klang Valley and it initially ran as a beta to ride on the eCommerce wave during the pandemic. PBD claims they were able to keep to their next-day delivery promise and have consistently received positive feedback from merchants and customers.

According to Setel, Setel Express offers an in-app service for customers to track their eCommerce deliveries pick up and drop off parcels at selected Petronas stations. In fact, Setel is using selected Petronas stations as pickup and drop-off (PUDO) points. There are currently 8 hubs in the Klang Valley, two in Johor and two in Penang.

At the moment, Setel Express has an intracity presence in the Klang Valley, Penang, Johor and it delivers within Peninsular Malaysia through its partners. You can find the list of Setel Express covered areas on their website. With Setel Express, merchants can use the service to send parcels via Door-to-Door, Point-to-Door, Door-to-Point, and Point-to-Point delivery methods in Peninsular Malaysia.

However, the service isn’t live for end-consumers yet. On the Setel app, you’ll only get a link to a parcel tracker, and you can’t arrange for a door-to-door delivery like Grab, AirAsia Express, or Lalamove. Even you click Join Now on their website, it appears to be a registration form for merchants where they will onboard you within two working days.

According to Setel, the feature for customers is still in the pipeline and in the future, they can arrange for personal deliveries with similar options as merchants. Setel Express will also expand its merchant offering by introducing a Premium Merchant feature within the Setel app.

Setel Express promises next-day intrastate delivery in selected areas and up to 4 days for interstate delivery. Doorstep pickup is available for 5 parcels or more, and for less than 5 parcels, you can drop it off at one of their Setel Express hubs.

According to the FAQ, Setel accepts parcels with a maximum size of 45cm x 45cm x 45cm, up to 10kg in weight. For intrastate deliveries, it costs RM5.50 for small parcels (up to 3kg) and RM6.00 for large parcels (up to 10kg). Meanwhile, interstate deliveries cost RM6.00 for small parcels (up to 3kg) and up to RM10 for large parcels (up to 10kg). For merchants that send more than 200 parcels monthly, the cost can be reduced by RM0.50-RM1.50 per parcel depending on the category.

Setel Express will invoice merchants on the first week of the month and are given 14 days to complete the payment transaction. If you’re a merchant, you can sign up and enjoy 5 free parcel deliveries using the code “SetelEarly” on their website. For more info, you can visit Setel Express’ website.
