Oppo Pad launched with 11-inch LCD display, Snapdragon 870 and an Oppo Pencil stylus

While Oppo was busy showing off their brand new Oppo Find X5 Pro in their global launch, back in China they also debuted their first ever tablet, the Oppo Pad. This comes after Oppo first teased it earlier this week.

Oppo Pad pricing and availability

The Oppo Pad has so far only appeared in China, with no news just yet on international availability. As for pricing in China, here’s how much each configuration of the Oppo Pad will cost:

  • Oppo Pad , 6GB RAM, 128GB storage: CNY2,299 (~RM1,526.91)
  • Oppo Pad, 6GB RAM, 256GB storage: CNY2,699 (~RM1,792.57)
  • Oppo Pad, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage: CNY2,999 (~RM1,991.82)

It seems to be priced pretty competitively against the likes of the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro, the latter of which shares similar specs to the Oppo Pad. For a quick comparison, the Mi Pad 5 starts at CNY1,999, while the Mi Pad 5 Pro starts at CNY2,399. However, the Mi Pad 5 Pro never made it to our shores, with only the Mi Pad 5 being officially available in Malaysia starting at RM1,399.

Oppo Pad specs

For Oppo’s first ever tablet, you’re looking at a pretty solid slate housing an 11-inch, WQXGA (2560 x 1600) LCD display with an 86.3% screen-to-body ratio and a pixel density of 275ppi. It is able to push up to a 120Hz refresh rate too, and according to Oppo has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and a brightness of 480nits with HDR10 support too. The chassis itself meanwhile weighs just 507g and measures 6.99mm thin.

Under the hood, it comes with the fairly powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 system-on-chip, the same one as that found in the Mi Pad 5 Pro. This gets mated to up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, with no expandable storage option. It comes with the ColorOS for Pad UI based on their ColorOS12 skin of Android 11. This special version of ColorOS brings with it multi-screen collaboration with Oppo branded phones for file transfers and mirroring displays onto the tablet. That’s on top of other tweaks made for tablet such as multi-window display and horizontal display optimisation.

Tablet’s aren’t generally known for powerful cameras, but you do get a 13MP, f/2.2 main camera on the rear of the device while for selfies and video conferencing another 8MP, f/2.0 camera is located on the front of the device. The rear camera can still do up to 4K 30fps video recording though, and the front camera also supports biometric face unlocking. Curiously, there doesn’t appear to be a fingerprint sensor listed on the Oppo Pad’s spec sheet.

Other features of note includes a sizable 8360mAh battery that Oppo claims will be able to last you up to 18 hours of word processing, 16.5 hours of video watching and up to 9 hours of continuous video conferencing. It also supports 33W SuperVOOC fast charging as well as 9V/2A USB Power Delivery. There doesn’t appear to be an LTE-ready model, though you will still get WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 support. The Oppo Pad comes with a quad speaker setup too with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio. The Oppo Pad will come in black, purple and a limited edition silver colourway.

There’s also a few accessories that you can get optionally for the Oppo Pad. This includes the Oppo Pencil stylus that has 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity with a battery life of up to 13 hours and can be attached to the Oppo Pad magnetically. The Oppo Pencil will cost you an extra CNY499 (~RM331.40) while there’s an optional keyboard case too for CNY399 (~RM264.98).
