The Ministry of Health has announced its latest close contact protocols with reduced restrictions for those who have received their booster shot. Effective 1st March 2022, individuals aged 18 years old and above, who have made close contact with a COVID-19 positive case, are no longer required to isolate themselves (Home Surveillance Order) if they have received the booster shot and have no symptoms.
However, all close contacts must conduct a COVID-19 self-test on Day 1 and Day 3. Close contacts (Boosted and fully vaccinated) with symptoms on Day 1 must isolate themselves for 5 days.
For fully vaccinated close contacts without a booster, the current 5 day isolation period still applies. Close contacts who are not fully vaccinated must isolate themselves for 7 days. The same isolation period (without booster and not fully vaccinated) is applicable for all age groups including younger children. Non-fully vaccinated close contacts who develop symptoms must isolate themselves for 7 days.
As usual, all close contacts must self-monitor themselves and report their COVID-19 self-test result via MySejahtera. The MySejahtera app now requires users to attach a photo when reporting their COVID-19 self-test result.
As announced previously, individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 with mild or no symptoms are not required to go to the COVID-19 assessment centre (CAC). Positive cases are only required to declare themselves in MySejahtera and a digital Home Surveillance Order (HSO) will be issued with no wristband required. You are also required to report your health assessment daily in MySejahtera during the HSO period.
