While watching the 2022 Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, I was also looking through Twitter to read what Samsung fans are most hyped up about. Sure, there were a few tweets of them being excited about the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+—but there were quite a few more tweets of BTS fans saying that they are glued to the online event for the possibility of their favourite Kpop band showing up. Spoiler alert—it wasn’t that worth it to watch for BTS.

The news of BTS appearing in a part of the Galaxy Unpacked event was announced on Kpop news sites. The popular band partnered up with Samsung as the brand’s official global endorsement ambassadors since February 2020. To no surprise, BTS fans online tweeted that they tuned into the event livestream just to catch a glimpse of the band.

Some BTS fans also speculated that the band might announce a BTS version of the Samsung Galaxy S22. A fan said that they will be “a bit annoyed” if Samsung introduced a BTS Samsung phone—as they had already purchased a purple Samsung phone (because of BTS) a month ago.

Now, I don’t know whether it was worth it to stay up and watch the entire Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2022 livestream if you are just a BTS fan, because they only showed up at the very end of the event in a short “Galaxy for the Planet” promo video. The band didn’t even speak—they just did a Bob Dylan-style announcement asking to “protect our planet” and dipped. You can watch the whole appearance below.

Although a lot of the fans were still happy they got “crumbs”, some felt just as duped as I would imagine. A fan tweeted that Samsung “made them watch an hour plus” of content just to see BTS showing flash cards.

Besides a slew of BTS fans filling up the Samsung hashtags on Twitter, the Galaxy Unpacked event also brought Netflix’s Bridgerton fans a creative “partnership” video promoting the S22 and S22+. I’m a huge fan of Bridgerton, so I was really into Bridgerton’s wild and slightly confusing Samsung promo video involving how impressed the “Queen” is looking at the sleek new phones from 209 years in the future.

If you were interested in what the Unpacked event had to offer, Samsung announced that the S22 series is now official with a total of 3 models—the Galaxy S22, S22+ and the S22 Ultra. You can read the official price list, as well as more information on what’s new with the devices.
