Leak reveals Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra specs and pricing in Malaysia

[ UPDATE 9/02/2022 23:00 ] Samsung Galaxy S22 series is now official in Malaysia. Here’s the official pricing for all Galaxy S22 models including the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

====

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is launching tomorrow and pre-order in Malaysia is expected to be available shortly after the global event. Ahead of the official Samsung Unpacked 2022 event, it appears that a LazMall seller on Lazada Malaysia has accidentally leaked out the pricing for the top-of-the-line Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra model that comes with an S Pen.

According to screenshots taken from the Lazada app, Malaysia will get a total of four variants for the Galaxy S22 Ultra which includes a massive 1TB version. Below is the pricing that’s listed on the LazMall shop of a Samsung Authorised Reseller:

  • Galaxy S22 Ultra 12GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM4,999
  • Galaxy S22 Ultra 12GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM5,299
  • Galaxy S22 Ultra 16GB RAM + 512GB storage – RM5,899
  • Galaxy S22 Ultra 16GB RAM + 1TB storage – RM6,399

In terms of colours, the device is available in Black, Green, Dark Red, and White. The last 1TB storage smartphone to be offered by Samsung Malaysia was the Galaxy S10+ which was priced at RM5,999.

In terms of hardware, the leaked listing has also revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra in Malaysia will be running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 instead of Samsung’s own Exynos 2200. This should be good news for power users in Malaysia who predominantly prefer Qualcomm chips for their performance and power efficiency. The device gets 12GB of RAM for the two lower storage variants and 16GB RAM for the higher 512GB and 1TB version.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is the biggest device in the series and this is also seen as the new successor to the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The device will feature a 6.8″ QuadHD+ AMOLED display with a variable 120Hz refresh rate. In terms of cameras, the device gets a quad-camera setup at the rear which includes a 108MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, and two 10MP telephoto cameras, with one of it using a periscope camera module. For selfies, the device gets a 40MP front camera that sits in a punch-hole. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra also gets IP68-rated dust and water resistance as well as support for 5G connectivity.

Powering the device is a large 5,000mAh battery and it supports up to 45W fast charging via USB-C. Like most new flagship devices from Samsung, the power adapter is not included and it is sold separately. While the screenshots look legit, there’s a chance that this information could be just a temporary placeholder text before the actual details are updated for the pre-order session. Oddly, the device is listed with Android 11 instead of Android 12. So keep that in mind as the actual prices could be different after the launch event.

Take note that Samsung usually offers pre-order deals so stay tuned for the full local announcement from Samsung Malaysia. If you register your interest in the Galaxy S22, Samsung is offering a RM200 eVoucher which you can use to purchase other accessories and wearables after you pre-order the device.
