Hotlink Prepaid Pantas: 20GB high-speed data with one-year validity for RM30

Maxis has introduced its new Hotlink Prepaid Pantas (aka Hotlink Prepaid Fast) which replaces the Hotlink Prepaid Internet 365. The new Prepaid Pantas plan still offers data with 1-year validity but you will need to top up to keep the line active. As posted recently, all existing Hotlink Prepaid Internet 365 users will be switched to the new plan and they will no longer enjoy the low commitment RM5 top-up for 60 active days.

Similar to the Internet 365 plan that was introduced in July last year, the data plans are valid for 365 days instead of the usual 30-day period. According to Maxis, its data quota offers uncapped high-speed access. Once you’ve finished your quota, there’s no free basic internet with throttled speed, and you’ll need to purchase a new data pass to access the internet. Take note that despite having a 365-day validity, you must keep your line active in order to use it.

On the new Pantas plan, you will need to top up RM10 or more to get 30 day active days. As a comparison, the previous Internet 365 plan just requires a RM5 top-up to enjoy a longer 60-day active period, which is a lower commitment to stay active. If you top up RM5, you will now get only 5 active days with the new Pantas plan.

For those who don’t want the hassle of topping up monthly, Hotlink Prepaid Pantas still offers the 365-days active add-on for RM30. This will keep both your prepaid SIM active for one full year.

Despite having a higher monthly top-up commitment to stay active, the new Prepaid Pantas offers cheaper data rates compared to the old plan. You can now get 20GB for RM30 (effectively RM1.50 per GB) or 8GB for RM15 (effectively RM1.88 per GB), which are valid for 365 days. If you don’t need so much data, they are also offering 5GB for RM10, 2GB for RM4 and 1GB for RM2, which are effectively RM2 per GB.

As a comparison, the older Internet 365 plan offered 10GB for RM20, 4GB for RM10, and 2GB for RM6. Overall, the new plan offers greater value if you use more data. With the new plan, you can get 20GB data (RM30) with 365 active days add-on (RM30) for RM60 all-in.

For new customers, the Hotlink Pantas starter pack costs RM10. It comes preloaded with RM5 credit and 5 active days. In terms of voice calls, the plan charges 15 sen per 30 seconds and each SMS costs 15 sen to all local networks. Maxis is offering a Hotlink Pantas Online bundle for RM25 which comes preloaded with RM2 credit and 10GB of data that’s valid for 365 days. Upon activation, the plan comes with 60 active days.
