Samsung confirms Galaxy S22 launch in February and it’ll be the most noteworthy S series device

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is expected to launch very soon and the device has been leaked extensively in the past few months. Before announcing the Samsung Unpacked 2022 event, Samsung’s head of Mobile, Dr. TM Roh has posted a statement about what to expect from Samsung this year.

Samsung has acknowledged the fans of the S Pen who were surprised when they didn’t release a new Galaxy Note model last year. TM Roh promised that Samsung will be introducing the most noteworthy S series device they have ever created and they will bring together the greatest experiences of its Samsung Galaxy into one ultimate device.

This is no doubt the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra which not only supports the S Pen but it gets a dedicated silo to stow the stylus. As leaked recently, the new S Pen is expected to offer an even more realistic pen and paper feel with significantly lower latency compared to its previous S Pen versions.

TM Roh also said the new flagship device will allow you to “own the night” with the best and brightest photos and videos you’ve ever captured, and you’ll “own the day” with the power, speed, and tools that can’t be found elsewhere. The new Galaxy S22 series promises to offer cutting edge innovations while being part of a more sustainable Galaxy ecosystem.

However, Samsung has yet to provide actual details such as the time and date for the Galaxy Unpacked event. According to serial leakster Ice Universe, the Galaxy S22 launch is expected to take place at 11pm (Beijing/Malaysia time) on 9th February 2022. This matches the previous speculation that the Unpacked 2022 event is happening on 8th February (US Time), and the device could go on sale officially from the 24th of February 2022. It was said that pre-order customers could get their devices a few days earlier before the official availability date.

Since Malaysia is a key market for Samsung, we expect Samsung Malaysia to offer pre-orders for the Galaxy S22 series shortly after the global event. Like previous flagship launches, you can expect special deals such as discounts or device bundles during the pre-order period.

Besides the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which is seen as the Galaxy Note successor, Samsung is also launching the Galaxy S22 as well as the Galaxy S22+. Unlike the recent Galaxy S series, Samsung is expected to offer glass backs across the range including the base Galaxy S22 model. As part of its sustainability efforts, you can expect Samsung not to include a phone charger in the box but it should include a USB-C cable.

The biggest question right now is which version of the Galaxy S22 is coming to Malaysia? Previously, it was speculated that all global markets may get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 gen 1 variant after Samsung missed its own Exynos 2200 launch target. Just a few days ago, the Exynos 2200 was announced and it promises to offer a console gaming experience on mobile thanks to its partnership with AMD. It isn’t clear if Samsung has sorted out its GPU heating concerns as they didn’t reveal the CPU and GPU clock speeds on the Exynos 2200 spec-sheet.
