Here’s what happened during our first Coffee Culture Outing with the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G

Last week, we held out our first (and hopefully, the first of many) SoyaCincau Coffee Culture Outing with five of our volunteer participants. The five participants also had the opportunity to test out the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G before it officially launched in Malaysia!

We started off by getting to know our five participants, who were chosen from their creative slogan entries on our RKMD Facebook page. We met Teh—an ophthalmologist who came to participate all the way from Seremban, Esther—a digital marketer who owns an Instagram page filled with pretty drinks, Thava—a developer who likes playing piano, Azeera—a cat lover and is also a developer, and Vicky—a manager who is an avid fan of Manchester United.

The group went head-first into a Latte Art Workshop and Coffee Appreciation Class by Dennis and Rhys of the Barista Experience Academy. They had a crash course learning things like ‘what makes a good coffee?’ and barista basics like ‘how do you steam milk?’. They also learned how to make latte art—something that the volunteers noted to be “really tough” to do.

“It was quite an experience. I finally realise that I should not be demanding much from baristas, and I learned to appreciate more when they do really cute latte art,” said Azeera.

But that’s not all they were tasked to do. The participants were given a Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G to use during the day, to test out and give us honest feedback about the anticipated phone.

So, what did they think of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G?

“The first thing that I noticed was the weight—it was really nice. The texture (of the back of the phone) is nice, I had done a lot of testing as my hand is quite oily and yet I don’t see many fingerprint marks, oil marks, or stains.” – Vicky

“From the experience I had, everything was buttery smooth… the screen was excellent, the refresh rate was good, the camera was snappy, and I think that it’s a really good phone.” – Teh

“Battery stayed stable at 50% – 60% even after a few hours of intense photography, randomly turning the phone off and on again… the plastic back was a bit of an issue, as it didn’t feel as nice but that’s what you expect from the second tier priced phone.” – Thava

“It has a really good camera, and the auto-focus is really smooth. Even if you go on your Instagram page, and you post the footage there, the quality is really good.” – Esther

“(The phone) fits my hands really well since I don’t really have big hands… Other than that I like that it’s matte at the back, and the camera’s really nice.” – Azeera

We also held a little contest during the outing—participants were encouraged to take their best pictures and videos with the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G and post it on Instagram. The winner would receive their very own Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G—a unit that they could keep for themselves even after the event! All they needed to do is to upload their entries on their Instagram page.

At the end of the day, the SoyaCincau crew took some time to decide on the winning entry. There were some really great video entries and pretty photography, but the team decided on Esther’s aesthetically pleasant mini-vlog submission. She won herself her very own Samsung Galaxy S21 FE—along with a RM100 shopping voucher, an official SoyaCincau mug, and an RKMD t-shirt.

The other participants didn’t go home empty-handed, either. Azeera, Thava, Teh, and Vicky also received a goodie bag each containing a RM100 shopping voucher, an official SoyaCincau mug, and an RKMD t-shirt.

We’d like to thank the participants again for making their way to our first SoyaCincau Coffee Culture Outing! Thank you to the barista instructors, Dennis and Rhys, as well, for being such good sports. We at SoyaCincau had a lot of fun getting to know our readers by spending the day with them, and we hope to meet more of you in the near future!
