OnePlus 10 Pro now official: 80W charging, LTPO 2.0 display and unique camera layout

Following last week’s teaser by Pete Lau on its specs, the OnePlus 10 Pro is finally official. OnePlus has launched their latest flagship in China, and by the looks of things is set to be among the best in the Android smartphone segment for this year.

OnePlus 10 Pro pricing and availability

The OnePlus 10 Pro is now available for purchase in China only, though we’re sure it’ll launch sooner rather than later globally too. It’ll come in three storage and memory configurations, with pricing as follows:

  • OnePlus 10 Pro, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage – CNY4,699 (~RM3,085.84)
  • OnePlus 10 Pro, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – CNY4,999 (~RM3,284.68)
  • OnePlus 10 Pro, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage – CNY5,299 (~RM3,481.80)

While they’re no longer considered ‘flagship killers’ with great price to performance ratios, the OnePlus 10 Pro actually starts at a lower price in China than what the OnePlus 9 Pro went for. When the OnePlus 9 Pro launched early last year in China, it costs CNY4,999 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, rising to CNY5,999 for the highest spec model. Whether or not this means the global OnePlus 10 Pro will see a cheaper price though remains to be seen of course.

OnePlus 10 Pro specs

If you’re currently using the OnePlus 9 Pro, don’t expect too much of a change in terms of form factor, as the OnePlus 10 Pro retains the same 6.7-inch, 20:9 1440 x 3216p resolution screen size. The panel itself though has been upgraded to an LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display capable of a refresh rate of 120Hz, and thanks to the new LTPO 2.0 panel it can go as low as 1Hz when displaying a stationary page. It also supports HDR10+, and goes to as bright as 1300nits. All of it gets a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus over it for scratch resistance.

Under the hood, we already knew thanks to Pete Lau that the OnePlus 10 Pro was coming with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 system-on-chip. It’ll come with either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 memory and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The OnePlus 10 Pro will also come with Android 12 out of the box, though the China models will ship with ColorOS 12.1 instead of OxygenOS. However, the global models will likely still use OxygenOS instead.

As for the cameras, this marks the second year of their collaboration with Hasselblad. The rear of the OnePlus 10 Pro now has a fairly unique camera island design, housing a triple rear camera setup. The main camera is a 48MP, f/1.8 shooter using the Sony IMX789 sensor, and features optical image stabilisation on board. It gets flanked by a 50MP, f/2.2 ultrawide angle camera using the Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor, while the telephoto camera is an 8MP, f/2.4 shooter allowing for 3.3x optical zoom. As for selfies, you’ll get a 32MP, f/2.4 selfie camera using the Sony IMX615 sensor housed in a cutout punch hole on the top left of the display.

Other features of note includes a 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging as well as 50W wireless fast charging. It also supports reverse wireless charging for your other devices like TWS earbuds. There’s stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos too, while you’ll also find an under display fingerprint scanner on the OnePlus 10 Pro. For connectivity, it supports WiFi 6, NFC as well as Bluetooth 5.2. It’ll come in two colourways, which are black and green.
