Leaked feature reveals that Instagram may soon allow you rearrange your posts

Instagram loves to test out new features, like the ‘Take a Break‘ feature that literally tells you to close the app after a certain amount of time. These tests are usually done on a small group of people and released to the public if it was well-received. However, some features aren’t even tested in public.

Alessandro Paluzzi is what I’d call a ‘social media leaker’. I don’t know how he does it, but he’s able to know about a new feature on social media weeks before it ever gets announced. For example, he recently predicted Twitter’s new composer bar 42 days before it was announced, so he has some credibility when it comes to this.

Paluzzi just posted about a new ‘Edit Grid’ feature that lets you rearrange your Instagram posts on your profile.

Right now, all of the posts on your profile are set to reverse chronological order, meaning your latest photo will always be on the top. This secret feature will let you change the order of those posts.

Why would you want to do that? Well, this would allow you to make one of those large three-by-three pictures without worrying about messing it up after you post something. You can also be creative with it and sort your posts by colour.

I personally was not sure if anyone would use this, but it turns out that over 9 million Instagram users use an app called “Preview” to plan their Instagram post layout. If this feature ever becomes public, I guess there will be an audience for it.

So far, there has been no announcement for this feature yet, but it’s probably coming soon knowing Paluzzi’s track record. If you’re a beta tester, be sure to be on the lookout!

As for official updates, Instagram is bringing back the chronological feed but is adding two more options. The three options will be called Home, Favorites, and Following and it’s reportedly already rolling out.
