Honor X30 launches in China with Snapdragon 695 and large 6.81-inch display

Awhile back, Honor had launched a couple new devices in China, dubbed the Honor X30i and X30 Max. It took a couple of months more but Honor have also now launched the base model Honor X30 in China.

Pricing and availability

As mentioned earlier, the Honor X30 is still only available in China for now, with no word just yet on whether or not Honor plans to sell it internationally. Priced solidly among other mid-range devices, the prices for the Honor X30 are as follows:

  • Honor X30, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage – RMB1,499 (~RM991.09)
  • Honor X30, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage – RMB1,699 (~RM1,123.07)
  • Honor X30, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – RMB1,999 (~RM1,321.38)

Honor X30 specs and features

Right off the bat, you’d notice that it’s a big smartphone. It has a 6.81-inch, FHD+ IPS LCD display capable of a refresh rate up to 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. Incidentally, it’s not even the largest display on a current Honor device, as the Honor X30 Max, as its name implies, has an even larger 7.09-inch display.

Under the hood is the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 system-on-chip. It’s a relatively new processor, having only been announced in October by Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 695, based on the 6nm process, is fairly similar to the 8nm-based Snapdragon 690 it replaced, but has the added benefit of supporting both mmWave and sub-6 5G bands. This gets mated to up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage, and comes with the Android 11-based Magic UI 5 out of the box. It’s perhaps safe to say that if it the Honor X30 does launch globally, it should come with Google Mobile Services too.

In the camera department, we find a triple camera setup on the rear, with a 48MP, f/1.8 main camera flanked by a 2MP, f/2.4 macro lens and another 2MP, f/2.4 depth sensor. If the camera island looked familiar to you by the way, it’s because it’s a fairly similar design to their flagship Honor Magic 3 series. On the front of the Honor X30 meanwhile is a 16MP selfie camera housed in a small punch hole cutout in the middle of the display.

Elsewhere, there’s a 4,800mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging; Honor claims that you’ll be able to charge up to 81% in just half an hour. That battery meanwhile will also be able to support up to 20 hours of video streaming—according to Honor anyway. The fingerprint scanner meanwhile is located on the side of the device. The Honor X30 does lack a number of features that would make it stand out more in the mid-range segment though, like a 3.5mm headphone jack and WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 support. It’ll come in four colourways, which are black, gold, blue and silver.
