DJI Mavic 3: Full design and specs leaked just days before the launch event

After months of speculation, DJI’s Mavic 3 drone design and specs have been leaked, just days before the launch on November 5th. Let’s go over what got revealed and what we know about their upcoming products.

There are going to be three different bundles for the Mavic 3, which are the DJI Mavic 3, DJI Mavic 3 Combo, and DJI Mavic 3 Cine Premium (although the naming conventions are not fully confirmed yet).

The Mavic 3’s “European design” was leaked and will probably come in at below 900 grams. It is unclear if the European version will differ from the American or Asian ones, but it is important to note that drones under 900 grams will be treated as subcategory A1 by the EU, giving you more operational freedom when the new regulations take effect on January 1, 2023. The drone will also feature a 20MP Hasselblad camera, capable of capturing 5.1K footage at 50fps, 4K at 120fps, and 1080p at 200fps.

DJI will also include a secondary 12MP camera with a 15 degree FoV with the ability to shoot 4K at 30fps. The standard Mavic 3 model will come with 8GB of internal memory and up to 2TB expandable storage via micro SD.

The biggest thing fans are excited about is the battery, coming in at 5000mAh and allowing for up to 46 minutes of flight time, which is much better than the 34 minutes you would get with the Mavic Air 2.

Of course, there are basic accessories included in the bundle, including a controller, cables, and a case.

Just like some of DJI’s previous models, they will offer a “fly more” bundle that includes additional accessories for your drone. This includes things like a car charger, charging hubs, power bank adapters, and more.

If you’re really dedicated to getting professional cinematic drone shots, then the Mavic 3 Cine Premium would be more up your alley. It comes with upgraded hardware and features that make it fit for a pro.

This model will support ProRes video, Apple’s format that just got support with iOS 15.1. Instead of the Mavic 3’s 8GB of internal storage, the Cine version will have 1TB by default, with up to 2TB expandable storage via micro SD.

The Cine mode is likely to have similar specs to the standard version, being able to record 5.1K footage at up to 50fps, 4K up to 120fps, and 1080p up to 200fps.

The Mavic 3 Cine version also comes with the same “fly more” accessories as the ones mentioned previously, as well as a DJI Smart Controller that has a screen.

The Mavic 3 will likely come out on November 5th, with the pricing similar to the Mavic 2, starting at USD 1,600 (about RM6,647).
