iOS 15.1 is out now, enables SharePlay and two new camera updates for iPhone 13 Pro

Apple has pushed its new iOS 15.1 update which brings a host of new features and several bug fixes. The new software update is now available worldwide including Malaysia. If you got yourself a new iPhone 13 Pro, you should update your phone now to get several new camera features.

One of the biggest new iOS 15.1 features is SharePlay, which allows you to share content in sync with your family and friends via FaceTime. It supports selected apps which include Apple TV, Apple Music and Fitness+. There’s also an update for Apple Wallet which allows users to add their verified COVID-19 vaccination card to make it easier to present vaccination information, but this is only applicable for selected countries.

For iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max users, the new update also enables ProRes video capture. ProRes is an advanced video codec that promises to offer higher colour fidelity and less compression. However, take note that recording in this mode takes up a lot of space and it is said that one minute of 10-bit ProRes video in HD uses 1.7GB.

To provide users with better control, the auto macro photo and video feature can now be turned off permanently with iOS 15.1. This can be found in the camera settings where you can now disable “Auto Macro”. In case you missed it, the initial iOS 15 update has already given users the option to disable Night Mode from kicking in automatically.

The new update also addresses several issues including the Photo app incorrectly reporting insufficient storage when importing photos and video, and also instances of audio being paused when the screen is locked. It also fixes an issue of some WiFi networks not being detected and also battery algorithm issues on the iPhone 12 series.

If you have not gotten the software update notification yet, you can download iOS 15.1 manually by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
