Xiaomi is launching the Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Watch 2 next week

The Redmi Note 10 series is barely a year old and now Xiaomi is about to reveal its new Redmi Note 11 series next week. This is the Chinese smartphone maker’s new mid-range lineup which is expected to continue its trend of offering impressive specs at a lower price.

The Redmi Note 11 series will be making its debut in China and the event is taking place at 7pm on the 28th of October 2021. The external design of the new phone has been revealed on the official Redmi Weibo page which shows a flat edge design that looks similar to the current iPhone 13 series. Although the camera bump gives the impression of a quad-camera setup, the Redmi Note 11 appears to come with three cameras at the back.

There’s a prominent speaker grill on the top which is an indication that it comes with a pair of stereo speakers. The 3.5mm headphone jack and IR blaster are retained and there’s a label “Sound by JBL” printed at the top. On the sides, there’s a wide button which could be a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that doubles as a power button.

Since this is a series, you can expect a standard Redmi Note 11 and a higher-spec Redmi Note 11 Pro. It is speculated that the Redmi Note 11 Pro is running on a MediaTek Dimensity 920 while the standard model settles for a Dimensity 810 chip. The Pro model is said to feature a 120Hz OLED display and a large 5,000mAh battery that might support a faster 67W or 120W fast charge technology.

Ahead of the official announcement, users in China can start pre-booking the Redmi Note 11 Pro 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model. Although the price isn’t announced yet, fans can secure a unit starting today by placing a booking fee of CNY 100 (about RM65).

Besides the Redmi Note 11 series, Xiaomi is also introducing the Redmi Watch 2 next week. From the teaser image, it looks like a rehashed Mi Watch Lite that was introduced locally in December 2020. We expect this to be a budget pseudo smartwatch, which offers fitness band features in a wearable device that has a larger screen.

At the moment, it isn’t clear if other countries outside of China will get the same devices. While we can expect a Redmi Note 11 series for international markets, there’s a possibility that Xiaomi might offer different hardware and configuration for India and the rest of the world.
