As announced by Communications and Multimedia Tan Sri Annuar Musa last month, telcos in Malaysia will be offering the Pakej Remaja Keluarga Malaysia starting today, 15th October 2021. Aimed at providing affordable internet for daily use and online learning, youths can enjoy 20GB of data valid for 3 months for RM30 (average cost of RM10/month). The initiative will run for a period of 6 months until 15th April 2022.
According to the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) the plan is open for youths and students, and it also comes with unlimited basic internet. On top of that, users are still able to redeem the free 1GB daily data for productivity use, which amounts to an additional 30GB of data each month.
On top of that, families can also get a brand new 4G LTE phone with Voice over LTE (VoLTE) support for free under the Pakej Peranti Keluarga Malaysia. The free devices are offered on contract with a commitment as low as RM40/month. It will be tied to either a 12 or 24-month contract duration. Users that redeem the devices are also eligible to redeem the free 1GB daily data for productivity use.
Celcom has revealed its Pakej Remaja Keluarga Malaysia offering via Xpax prepaid. The plan claims to come with 110GB high-speed internet valid for 90 days at RM30. Take note that the 110GB is a combination of 20GB high-speed data (valid for 90 days) for all usage and 90 days of free 1GB of daily data that can’t be used for online gaming, streaming, video and music streaming. After hitting your quota, your internet speeds will be throttled to 64kbps.
If you’re not an Xpax customer, you will need to buy a sim pack which costs RM10. The 20GB (3 months) data for RM30 is available for students aged 12 to 21 years old (Born on 15th October 1999 or earlier). For students aged between 21 to 30 years old, you will need to visit a Celcom bluecube outlet to verify your student ID. Once that’s done, the RM30 plan will be available for purchase in the Celcom Life app.
If you’re looking for a new 4G phone, Celcom is offering 5 free device options. The cheapest device is a Nokia 225 4G feature phone (RRP: RM199) that’s tied to Celcom XP Lite M postpaid on a 12-month contract. The plan costs RM38/month and it comes with unlimited calls to all networks as well as 8GB of high-speed data, unlimited Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and WeChat, and unlimited YouTube streaming at 480p resolution.
During sign-up, you are still required to fork out RM100 upfront payment which will be rebated back to your account across 10 months.
If you’re looking for better options, Celcom is offering the Samsung Galaxy A02 (RRP: RM399), Realme C11 2021 (RRP: RM399), Samsung Galaxy A03s (RRP: RM559), Vivo Y1s (RRP: RM459) for free with its XP Lite L plan on a longer 24 or 28 month contract.
