Asus ROG Phone 5s Malaysia: Everything you need to know

Asus has officially launched the ROG Phone 5s in Malaysia. This is a refresh of its ROG Phone 5 which now comes with a more responsive display and it runs on a newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ processor. If you’re planning to get one, here’s everything you need to know.

ROG Phone 5s Malaysian pricing

Interestingly, the new ROG Phone 5s retains the same price tag as its predecessor with the base model priced from RM2,999. Here’s the official pricing for the ROG Phone 5s in Malaysia:

  • ROG Phone 5s 8GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM2,999
  • ROG Phone 5s 16GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM3,799

Both devices are available on the official Asus Mobile store on Lazada.

The top-of-the-line model is the ROG Phone 5s Pro which replaces the previous ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Edition. Here’s the official pricing in Malaysia:

  • ROG Phone 5s Pro 18GB RAM + 512GB storage – RM4,999

The ROG Phone 5s Pro is also available for purchase on the official online store on Lazada.

ROG Phone 5s Pre-order

From 8th to 24th October 2021, Asus Malaysia is having a special pre-order bundle where you can get an additional free gift and PWP offer. If you buy any ROG Phone 5s model, you will receive a free ROG Strix Go 2.4 headphones worth RM749. On top of that, you can also get an RM100 discount if you buy the ROG Phone 5s with the ROG Clip. The RM100 voucher (limited to 1,000 e-cash vouchers) expires on 30th November and it is applicable to the Asus Official Store in the PayLater Mall.

From 25th to 31st October, Asus Malaysia is having a PayLater promo where you can purchase the devices with 12 months “zero-fee” installments. By default, customers can get 4 “zero-fee” instalments and the promo with PayLater allows you to enjoy an additional 8 “zero-fee” instalments. This offer is limited to 1,000 e-instalment vouchers.

ROG Phone 5s specs

The ROG Phone 5s features a 6.78″ Full HD+ AMOLED display which is similar to its predecessor. It pushes a 144Hz refresh rate and an upgraded 360Hz touch-sampling rate for better responsiveness. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ configured with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS3.1 storage. For taking pictures, the rear gets a triple-camera setup consisting of a 64MP main camera, 13MP utlra-wide-angle shooter and a 5MP macro camera. Upfront, it comes with a 24MP selfie shooter. The back of the device comes with an illuminated logo with Auro RGB lighting.

The device comes with a pair of stereo speakers and it still retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. Also included is ROG’s signature AirTrigger shoulder buttons which can be customised according to your gameplay. According to the spec-sheet, it supports 6GHz WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 as well as 5G connectivity.

Powering the device is a 6,000mAh battery and it comes with bottom-mounted and side-mounted USB-C ports which makes it more practical to charge while gaming. It supports 65W HyperCharge which is rated to push a full charge in less than an hour. It is also compatible with QuickCharge 5.0 as well as USB PD 3.0 charging protocols. The ROG Phone 5s comes in two colours – Phantom Black and Storm White.

ROG Phone 5s Pro specs

The ROG Phone 5s Pro retains the same specs as the standard ROG Phone 5s but it comes with a whopping 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The biggest visual difference is the rear as the device comes with ROG Vision, which is a tiny screen that can be used to display notifications.

In addition to the shoulder buttons, the ROG Phone 5s Pro comes with rear touch sensors which work as L2/R2 trigger functions for your games. The ROG Phone 5s Pro comes only in Phantom Black and an AeroActive cooler is included in the package.
