PM: Klang Valley to move to NRP Phase 3 from 1st Oct, sports and recreational events allowed with fully vaccinated spectators

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced today that Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya will move to Phase Three under the National Recovery Plan starting October 1.

He also announced that Melaka will move to Phase Three from Two, and Kedah to Phase Two from One — which means there are no more states in Phase One.

“This phase transition was made after taking into account the current risk assessment by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the National Security Council (NSC).

“I extend my deepest appreciation and congratulations to all Malaysians, especially the state governments who worked tirelessly to manage the pandemic in each state, in order to achieve the goal set,” Ismail Sabri said in a statement today.

Among the activities allowed for the respective phases are official government and private events, the resumption of the skills training sector and spectators at sports matches in stadiums.

“Official government and private events, including launches and workshops, are allowed in Phase Two and Phase Three states, as long as guests are fully vaccinated while occupying only 50 per cent of premises space, and 100 per cent capacity for Phase Four states.

“For individuals who have not been vaccinated, they must undergo a pre-event test using a self-test kit (saliva) prior to the event, witnessed by the event organiser or as confirmed by a medical practitioner,” he said.

Ismail Sabri also said that the skills training sector and industrial training centres, including vocational colleges and TVET, in all phases are allowed to resume in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) in line with the opening of higher learning institutions (IPT) on October 15.

The government has also decided to allow spectators/supporters at sports venues and recreational facilities in Phase Two, Three and Four states, he added.

“This includes before, during and after sports and recreational events as long as spectators/supporters are fully vaccinated, wear face masks throughout the match and do not eat or drink while in the stadium.

“Children under the age of 18 are not allowed into these venues,” he said. —  Malay Mail
