HP ZBook Firefly G8 laptops now available in Malaysia, priced from RM5,959

While most people who need a portable yet powerful laptop may look for a gaming laptop, sometimes it’s not the most appropriate machine for you especially if you work in a business-focused environment. As such, mobile workstation laptops may be more up your alley, such as the HP ZBook Firefly G8 that’s just been released in Malaysia.

HP ZBook Firefly G8 specs

Right out the gate you’ll notice that despite the single name, there’s actually two major variations of the HP ZBook Firefly G8. You can opt between a 14-inch or a 15.6-inch screen, both of which are anti-glare IPS displays capable of up to 250nits of brightness. The screens top out at a 60Hz refresh rate and cover 45% of the NTSC colour gamut.

Under the hood, both the 14-inch and 15.6-inch models come with either the 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 or the Core i7-1165G7. You’ll also get either 8GB or 16GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM. This gets paired to either a 256GB or 512GB SSD. As for graphics, it comes with up to an NVIDIA Quadro T500 GPU with 4GB of VRAM, and is based on the Turing architecture. Two of the lower-end variations however have an NVIDIA Quadro T1000 GPU, also with 4GB of VRAM.

As for I/O, the 14-inch ZBook Firefly G8 laptops get 1x 3.5mm audio jack, 2x USB-A ports, 1x HDMI port and 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports. The larger laptops though only get 1x USB-A port, but has a slightly bigger battery at 56Whr compared to the 53Whr battery on the smaller model. Both models get a 65W charging brick and support WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. All of this functionality gets packed into a chassis that’s just 17.95mm thin, with the smaller ZBook Firefly G8 weighing just 1.35kg and the larger model weighing 1.7kg.

HP also claims to have the world’s most sustainable PC portfolio, and that’s no different with the ZBook Firefly G8. They use recycled plastics to manufacture their Z-series products, and they also come with Energy Star certification for more efficient power management.

Pricing and availability

There’s up to eight different configurations of the HP ZBook Firefly G8 on sale in Malaysia, four of which are the 14-inch variant with the other four being the 15.6-inch version.
