The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra has been officially launched in Malaysia. It’s been quite a while since we saw a ZTE branded flagship phone in Malaysia, but this latest device has been well received elsewhere as it offers some impressive specs while priced pretty competitively too.

ZTE Axon 30 Ultra specs

For starters, you get a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with curved edges and a refresh rate up to 144Hz. The front and glass back are protected via Gorilla Glass 5. Unlike its Axon 30 sibling that has a fullscreen display with an under-display camera, the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra does have a punch-hole display for a selfie camera.

Speaking of cameras, you’ll find a four camera setup on the rear, housed in a camera bump that’s somewhat reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. ZTE have packed in a 64MP main shooter using the Sony IMX686 sensor that has optical image stabilisation. Furthermore, there’s a 64MP ultra wide angle lens and another 64MP portrait lens both using the Samsung GW3 sensor, as well as an 8MP periscope telephoto lens too. On the front, you get a 16MP camera for selfies.

As is the case with most flagship devices these days, the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 system-on-chip under the hood. It gets mated to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and features the MyOS 11, ZTE’s own skin on top of Android 11. Keeping the lights on is a 4600mAh battery with support for 65W fast charge via USB-C.

Other features of note include an optical fingerprint scanner under the display, stereo speakers, and a dual SIM card slot. As for connectivity, it supports 5G, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and has support for NFC too. It comes in just one colour, Black.

Pricing and availability

The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra retails for RM3,599 and is available for purchase on ZTE Malaysia’s official Shopee and Lazada store. Incidentally, at time of writing, it’s actually priced lower on Shopee at just RM3,299 following an 8% discount.

ZTE Malaysia will also be throwing in a gift bundle with free stuff worth up to RM499 during the upcoming Shopee 9.9 Special Sale. However, they had not specified what’s included in the gift bundle or other details about the promo. We’ve asked them what they’ll be including and will update this article if we get a reply.

[UPDATE 25/8/21]: We’ve gotten a reply on what ZTE Malaysia is including in the gift bundle. If you were to purchase the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra, you’ll also be getting a Beyerdynamic DTX350M Headset worth RM239, a 10,000 power bank worth RM99, an action camera worth RM111 and a RM50 KFC voucher.

For more information on the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra, you can check out its product page on ZTE’s website.
