Garmin announces the Tactix Delta – Solar Edition, another addition to a series of the manliest smartwatches I’ve ever seen. But it’s not just manly—it’s also got several features that can help live your dreams as an outdoorsy action hero, like “night vision” capabilities, Stealth Mode, and even a collection of topographic maps. It is available now in Malaysia at RM5,099.

Features

Building on Garmin’s other solar charging adventure watches like the Fenix 6 Pro Solar series and the Instinct Solar series, the Tactix Delta gives you “significantly increased battery life”. It also has purpose-built functionality for activities like mountain biking, climbing, skiing and golf activities.

The Tactix Delta – Solar Edition boasts that it is crafted to (MIL-STD-810) “military standards” with key features like a solar-charging lens. It’s also got specialised tactical additions, as well as mapping, music, and other advanced training features.

Its solar-charging lens helps extend your battery life on long outdoor adventures. It also has a Power Manager mode which can provide up to 21 days indoors and up to 24 days with sufficient solar exposure.

For night-time adventures, the smartwatch has night vision capabilities, which means that you can switch between daytime and nighttime view with a screen that can be read by night vision goggles. In Stealth Mode, the watch will disable location sharing, wireless connectivity, and provides a kill switch to wipe all user memory—which is very James Bond of Garmin to do so.

The Tactix Delta – Solar edition also includes topographic maps that you can access, which even includes ski maps for over 2,000 ski resorts worldwide and over 41,000 golf courses. Additionally, you can store up to 2,000 songs and sync playlists from several popular music services like Spotify and Apple Music, no phone required.

There are tons of other features that you can take advantage of. But most notably, Jumpmaster Mode—which helps calculate high-altitude release points once you’ve jumped, Projected Waypoints—which lets you set and save remote geo positions to be used later for navigation, Advanced Sleep Monitoring—which gives a detail breakdown of your light, deep and REM sleep stages, and a Pulse Ox Sensor—which is a sensor that uses light beams at your wrist to measure your body’s blood oxygen saturation.

As for its design, as if I didn’t stress it enough, the smartwatch looks manly and rugged as hell. Its design features an always-on 1.4″ display, scratch-resistant sapphire lens, a black DLC-coated steel bezel, black PVD-coated steel rear cover, a military-inspired black tactical nylon QuickFit band, and exposed metal hardware.

Availability

The Tactix Delta – Solar Edition is available now on Lazada, Shopee, and other authorised retailers. You can find out more about Garmin’s Solar range here, and more about the Tactix Delta – Solar Edition specifically here.
