COVID-19: 293 deaths and 19,631 new cases today, total deaths exceed 13,000

Malaysia has recorded 19,631 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 1,444,270. There are 293 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 13,077. Malaysia has recorded 4,053 deaths in August alone which is an average of 238.4 deaths per day.

The Ministry of Health has reported 16,468 new recoveries and a total of 1,179,046 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 81.64% while the mortality rate is now 0.91%.

There are currently 252,147 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 1,054 are in ICU while 525 require respiratory support.

Out of the 19,631 new cases today, 7 are imported while 19,624 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 5,753 new cases today, followed by Sabah with 2,103 cases, Kedah with 1,863 cases, Kuala Lumpur 1,765 cases and Johor with 1,309 cases.
