Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 Malaysia pre-order: Everything you need to know

Samsung Malaysia has revealed the pre-order details and pricing for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Flip 3. Both devices are open for pre-order starting this Thursday, 19th August and you can get additional freebies as well. The new foldable devices are priced significantly lower than the previous models.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 Pricing

For the first time, Samsung Malaysia is offering two variants for each model. Below is the official pricing for the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3:

• Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G 256GB – RM6,699
• Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G 512GB – RM7,099

The Z Fold 3 is offered in 3 colours – Phantom Black, Phantom Silver and Phantom Green. As a comparison, the previous Galaxy Z Fold 2 with 256GB storage was launched with a price tag of RM7,999. Essentially, the new model is RM1,300 cheaper than before.

• Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G 256GB – RM4,199

The Z Flip 3 with its dual-tone design is offered in 4 colour options – Cream, Phantom Black, Green and Lavender. With a starting price of RM3,999, this is the most affordable price tag yet for a brand new foldable device at the time of launch. When the first-gen Galaxy Z Flip (LTE) was launched in Malaysia, it was priced at RM5,888 with 256GB of storage. That was RM1,689 more than the latest Flip with the same amount of storage.

If you’re interested to get either device, pre-orders are available from 19th August until 21st September 2021. From the looks of it, stocks will be available in the end of September, after the pre-order period. Unlike previous flagship launches, Samsung Malaysia is offering an eVoucher which you can use to purchase your preferred accessories such as a smartwatch, earbuds, case, S Pen (for the Fold 3), charger, or more.

For the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, you’ll get RM850 eVoucher, while the Galaxy Z Flip 3 comes with a RM600 eVoucher. On top of that, Samsung is offering Samsung Care+ 1 year protection that’s worth RM699 for the Z Flip 3 or RM799 for the Z Fold 3.

Galaxy Z Fold 3

The Z Fold 3 is the 3rd generation Fold device that now supports the S-Pen and features an under-display selfie camera on the main display. On the inside, it gets a 7.6″ screen which pushes 1768×2208 pixels resolution, while the cover gets a 6.2″ display that does 832×2268 pixels resolution. Both AMOLED displays support 120Hz fresh rate for a fluid visual experience.

Under the hood, it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a choice of either 256GB or 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. For taking pictures, the rear gets a triple 12MP camera setup which offers wide, ultra-wide and telephoto with up to 2x optical zoom. The internal selfie camera is a 4MP shooter, while the cover gets a 10MP shooter.

This is also the first fold that offers IPX8 rated water resistance and it features an “armour aluminium” frame which aims to provide better durability while protecting the hinge mechanism. Powering the device is a 4,400mAh battery, which is slightly smaller than the Fold 2 and it still supports 25W fast-wired charging via USB-C. There’s also support for wireless charging up to 10W. Galaxy Z Flip 3

Despite the number, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is Samsung’s 2nd gen flip smartphone. The biggest change is the design which now offers a dual-tone design with a cover display that’s 4x larger than before. On the inside, it has a flexible 6.7″ Full HD+ AMOLED display that does 120Hz, while the cover has a 1.9″ 260×512 AMOLED screen that can be used to display notifications or as a view finder for taking a selfie or video.

For taking pictures, the cover gets two 12MP cameras for main and ultra-wide-angle shots. Meanwhile, the inside of the Flip gets a 10MP selfie camera. Like the Fold 3, it also runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor but it gets 8GB of RAM. Storage is also smaller with 128GB or 256GB storage options. Another major upgrade over its predecessor is the inclusion of stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and it also gets IPX8 rated water resistance.

Keeping the lights on is a 3,300mAh battery like the previous model and it still supports 15W fast charging via USB-C. Although it has a flagship-class processor, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 lacks Samsung Dex which is offered on the Galaxy Z Fold 3. You can learn more from our Galaxy Z Flip 3 announcement post.
