MSI may be synonymous with gaming gear, but that hasn’t stopped them from trying out different things for different crowds. Their Creator lineup of laptops are powerful little beasts meant for content creators, and there’s a new member of the club in Malaysia: the MSI Creator Z16.
You’d be forgiven for thinking that this is a gaming laptop when you look at the spec sheet, because it’s packing some pretty beefy hardware.
We’re talking an 11th Gen Intel Core i7-11800H with an NVIDIA RTX 3060 with 6GB of GDDR6 rated at 65W. This gets paired up with 16GB of DDR4-3200MHz RAM and a 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen 4 SSD for speedy memory and storage.
On the outside, the MSI Creator Z16 has a 16-inch, 16:10 QHD+ IPS display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Being a laptop meant for content creators, the screen covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and has touchscreen support too. The screen also has True Colour Technology in line with the Calman Colour Calibration to achieve a value of Delta-E < 2 for some of the best colour reproduction you can find in a laptop.
You’ll also find a 3.5mm combo jack, a microSD slot, 2x USB-A and 2x USB-C ports as well as a 720P webcam on the MSI Creator Z16. The keyboard meanwhile has per-key MiniLED RGB by Steelseries too. As for connectivity, you get WiFi 6E support along with Bluetooth 5.2. It also has a 90Whr battery and you’ll find a 180W charger in the box.
All of that gets encased in a chassis built out of CNC-milled aluminum. Weighing at 2.2kg, the MSI Creator Z16 is just 15.9mm thick, with a width of 359mm and a depth of 256mm. It comes in just one colourway: Lunar Gray.
The MSI Creator Z16 is currently available to pre-order on the MSI Malaysia online store as well as the official MSI Lazada store. All that hardware of course doesn’t come cheap, as the Creator Z16 will set you back a cool RM 11,999. Curiously, while MSI’s website lists the CPU as ‘up to 11th Gen Intel Core i9’, the Intel Core i7 is the only SKU available for pre-order right now.
