Malaysia has recorded 19,740 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 1,424,639. There are 274 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 12,784. Out of the total number of deaths reported today, 77 were “Brought-in-Dead”. In August so far, there are 3,760 deaths recorded, which is an average of 235 deaths per day.
The Ministry of Health has reported 17,450 new recoveries and a total of 1,162,578 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 81.61% while the mortality rate is now 0.90%.
There are currently 249,277 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 1,047 are in ICU while 520 require respiratory support.
Out of the 19,740 new cases today, 19 are imported while 19,721 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 5,706 cases, followed by Sabah with 1,728 cases, Kedah with 1,592 cases, Sarawak with 1,566 cases, Johor with 1,510 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 1,360 cases and Kelantan with 1,227 cases.
