COVID-19: 282 deaths and 20,546 new cases today, total cases exceed 1.4 million

Malaysia has recorded 20,546 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 1,404,899. Today is the fifth straight day of recording over 20,000 cases daily. In the last 7 days, Malaysia has recorded a total of 142,359 cases which is more than the total of 113,010 cases reported for the entire 2020.

There are 282 new deaths reported today and the death toll is now 12,510. There are a total of 101 “Brought-in-Dead” today.

The Ministry of Health has reported 16,945 new recoveries and a total of 1,145,128 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 81.51% while the mortality rate is now 0.89%.

There are currently 247,261 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 1,059 are in ICU while 526 require respiratory support.

Out of the 20,546 new cases today, 14 are imported while 20,532 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 7,307 cases, followed by Sabah with 1,665 cases, Kedah with 1,596 cases, Johor with 1,508 and Kuala Lumpur with 1,442 cases.
