Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G powered by Snapdragon 870 is coming soon to Malaysia

If the current Oppo Reno 6 and Reno 6 Z aren’t your cup of tea, Oppo Malaysia will soon introduce the Reno 6 Pro 5G. This will be their flagship-class model of the Reno 6 series and it will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor with support for 5G. To recap, the Snapdragon 870 is basically a higher-clocked version of the Snapdragon 865+.

According to the teaser by Oppo Malaysia, the device will come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It will also feature a “3D Curved Screen” and is available in Arctic Blue and Lunar Grey.

There are no launch details yet but we expect Oppo Malaysia to drop more clues in the coming days.

Not the same Reno 6 Pro as China and India

The incoming device for Malaysia is actually different from other markets. The Oppo Reno 6 Pro has already been launched in India and China but they run on a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip and comes with a different camera setup.

Based on what we’ve seen on Oppo China’s website, the Reno 6 Pro for Malaysia appears to be the same as the Reno 6 Pro+ which is also running on a Snapdragon 870 processor. Upfront, the device features a 6.55″ Full HD+ OLED display that supports a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen pushes a maximum brightness of 1100 nits and it supports HDR10+.

In terms of cameras, it gets a quad-camera setup featuring a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, a 13MP telephoto camera that supports 5x hybrid optical zoom and a 2MP macro shooter. The main camera uses Sony’s IMX766 1/1.56″ sensor, which is also used on the Oppo Find X3 Pro. For selfies, the device gets a 32MP front camera that sits on a tiny punch-hole on the screen.

Powering the device is a dual-cell 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W Super Flash Charge via USB-C. In terms of connectivity, it supports WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and it also has NFC. The device runs on Android 11 with ColorOS 11.3 skin on top.
