MagDart: Realme’s answer to Apple’s Magsafe wireless charger?

Realme is releasing a new smartphone very soon that will feature a new magnetic wireless charging component. This is expected to be their answer to Apple’s Magsafe charger that was introduced with the iPhone 12 series.

The folks at GSMArena have shared several leaked images of the upcoming Realme Flash with the MagDart charging solution. Based on the marketing image, the Realme Flash is said to be the first Android smartphone that supports magnetic wireless charging.

Based on information made available to GSMArena, the Realme MagDart charger can push a higher power output than Apple’s MagSafe and it uses USB-C. At the moment there’s no specific power output rating for the magnetic charger but it is expected to be the fastest in the world when it launches.

In terms of design, it looks very bulky and definitely less elegant than Apple’s magnetic charger. To keep the phone and the charging coils cool, the MagDart comes with a built-in fan which obviously adds to the thickness. This might be useful for users that intend to charge the phone while gaming.

In terms of the phone itself, the design of the Realme Flash especially the camera bump looks like a rehash of the OnePlus 9 series. It is expected to run on a Snapdragon 888 processor paired with up to 12GB of RAM and it comes with a dual-curved screen with a tiny punch-hole on the top-left corner. Out of the box, it will run on Android 11 with Realme UI 2.0 skin on top.

This newcomer is totally going to sweep you off your feet!

There are no pricing details at the moment and the Realme Flash is expected to launch in India very soon. It would be interesting to see if Realme will extend the MagDart feature to more models including its mid-range lineup.
