As we get closer and closer to the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event set for August 11, it’s perhaps only natural that we’re getting more leaks about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. The latest comes courtesy of serial leaker Evan Blass, with new information about the hardware specs of Samsung’s two upcoming foldables.
Let’s look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 first. According to Blass, it’ll have a 7.6-inch main display when folded open. Closing the device then gives you a 6.2-inch external screen on the front cover. This makes it pretty much the same as last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 2, although there’s no word yet on screen resolution.
As for the cameras, you can expect a triple 12MP camera setup on the rear and a 10MP front camera at the top of the cover display for you to take selfies with when the device is folded. There will also be a 4MP sensor that’s apparently an under-display camera, located beneath the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s main display. Furthermore, we can expect to see stylus support for both a Fold Edition S Pen along with the S Pen Pro on the foldable tablet.
Meanwhile, for the Galaxy Z Flip 3, there will be a 6.7-inch main display while the outer display is a much smaller 1.9-inch screen located along the cameras. Its main display may be the same size as its predecessor but Samsung has given the cover display gets a pretty significant size bump. Last year’s Galaxy Z Flip and Z Flip 5G only had a tiny 1.1-inch display on the cover, so a 1.9-inch screen this time means a 73% increase in size.
Camera-wise, the folding phone gets a two-camera setup, with both shooters being 12MP sensors. The selfie camera meanwhile is a 10MP sensor, similar to the camera setup on the Z Fold 3. Both phones will also get IPX8 water resistance, a much needed step up from their predecessors.
Of course, even though these new leaks come from a reliable source in Evan Blass, it should be noted that it’s still an unofficial rumour. But Samsung fans won’t have to wait too long now, as we’re just a fortnight away from the Korean giant’s Galaxy Unpacked event.
