Malaysia has recorded 15,573 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 980,491. This is the highest recorded in a single day beating the previous record of 13,215 cases reported on 15th July. There are 144 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 7,718. There are 2,548 deaths in July so far which is an average of 110.8 deaths per day.
The Ministry of Health has reported 10,094 new recoveries and a total of 825,387 patients have recovered and been discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 84.18% while the mortality rate is now 0.79%.
There are currently 147,386 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 939 are in ICU while 456 require respiratory support.
Out of the 15,573 new cases today, 32 are imported while 15,541 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 7,672 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,063 cases, Kedah with 937 cases and Johor with 722 cases.
