COVID-19: Record-high 11,618 new cases and 118 deaths today, total active cases now over 100,000

Malaysia has recorded 11,618 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 867,567. This is a new record-high and the second consecutive day of reporting over 11,000 cases. There are 118 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 6,503.

The Ministry of Health has reported 6,377 new recoveries and a total of 759,705 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 87.57% while the mortality rate is now 0.75%.

There are currently 101,359 active cases remaining which is a new record-high. ICU cases have dropped to 878 while 432 require respiratory support.

Out of the 11,618 new cases today, 26 are imported while 11,592 are transmitted locally. Selangor continues to record the most with 5,051 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,749 cases and Negeri Sembilan with 1,537 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 26 new clusters today and 15 are workplace related. Below is the breakdown of clusters by states:
