Realme Book renders and specs have leaked online, features 3:2 display

You might know BBK Electronics as the parent company behind smartphone brands such as Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and Realme. However, we also know that Realme are looking to launch a laptop soon: the Realme Book. Thanks to some recent leaks we now have more information on the their upcoming laptop.

Following a report by Giz Next, render images of the alleged Realme Book show a sleek looking laptop with a 14-inch FHD display. Measuring 307mm x 229mm x 16mm, it’ll certainly be a light machine weighing under 1.5kg. While not the most exciting design, it does follow in the footsteps of other similar looking machines such as the Honor MagicBook 14 and Huawei MateBook D14.

Hardware-wise, it should come with either an 11th Gen Intel Core i3 or an 11th Gen Intel Core i5 processor. There’s no word just yet on the final RAM and storage numbers, but it’ll likely have multiple options on offer. It also appears to have 1x USB Type A and 2x USB Type-C ports along with a 3.5mm combo audio jack. Another cool feature is what appears to be a fingerprint sensor on the top right corner by the keyboard.

This comes as late last month, the official Twitter account for Realme TechLife tweeted out a short teaser for a Windows 11-capable machine. Very much looking like a thin-and-light laptop, it also seems that the Realme Book will first be out on Windows 10 and that users can upgrade to Windows 11 following Microsoft’s rolliout.

Beyond the latest renders, we’ve also already seen some leaked images of the real product. Android Authority had previously posted a series of images highlighting the outer chassis and 3:2 aspect ratio screen, although there was no other specs known yet at the time.

While it certainly doesn’t look like it’ll be going toe-to-toe with the likes of the Apple MacBook Air or Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 anytime soon, it does appear that it will be priced fairly aggressively. According to Giz Next, the Realme Book is set to launch in India sometime in late-August 2021. It’s expected to start at just under Rs 40,000 (~RM 2,252.39), meaning it might rival the budget-oriented Honor Magicbook X series of laptops.

It’s certainly exciting to see more electronics manufacturers enter the laptop market. Competition among these brands may lead to better products and lower prices for the consumer. Hopefully, Realme considers launching the Realme Book globally sooner rather than later.
