COVID-19: Over 9,000 new cases for third day in a row, active cases jump to 87,841 with 961 in ICU

Malaysia has recorded 9,105 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 836,296. There are 91 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 6,158.

The Ministry of Health has reported 5,194 new recoveries and a total of 742,297 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 88.76% while the mortality rate is now 0.74%.

There are currently 87,841 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 961 are in ICU while 455 require respiratory support.

Out of the 9,105 new cases today, 18 are imported while 9,087 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 4,682 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,247, Negeri Sembilan with 541 cases and Johor with 392 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 19 clusters today and 13 are workplace-related. Below is the breakdown of clusters by states:
