COVID-19: 87 deaths and record-high 9,353 cases today, active cases now over 84,000

Malaysia hits a record-high 9,353 new COVID-19 cases today beating yesterday’s record of 9,180 cases. This brings the total number of infections to 827,191. There are 87 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 6,067.

The Ministry of Health has reported 5,910 new recoveries and a total of 737,103 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 89.11% while the mortality rate is at 0.73%.

There are currently 84,021 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 959 are in ICU while 451 require respiratory support.

Out of the 9,353 new cases today, 11 are imported while 9,342 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 4,277 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,398 cases, Melaka with 835 cases and Negeri Sembilan with 638 cases.

Ministry of Health has identified 29 new clusters today and 19 are workplace-related. Below is the breakdown of new clusters by state:
