Galaxy A22 5G: Samsung Malaysia’s most affordable 5G phone priced under RM1,000

The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G is coming to Malaysia and this appears to be the South Korea smartphone maker’s answer to the Redmi Note 10 5G. Priced under RM1,000, it comes with a large Full HD+ display, a triple-camera setup and it also comes with a huge battery.

According to retailer Mobile2Go, the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage is officially priced at RM999. Pre-order is now available with stocks expected to arrive on 26th June 2021. For Malaysia, the device is said to come in 3 options – Grey, Mint and Violet.

Upfront, the Galaxy A22 5G features a 6.6″ Full HD+ Infinity-V LCD display and it runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G chip which is similar to the Redmi Note 10 5G and the Poco M3 Pro 5G. For Malaysia, the device is equipped with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage which is expandable via microSD.

For taking pictures, it gets a triple-camera setup featuring a 48MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, the tiny notch at the top of the screen houses an 8MP front camera.

Powering the device is a huge 5,000mAh battery and it supports 15W fast charging via USB-C. The device also features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and it still has a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device runs on Android 11 with OneUI skin on top.

Besides the phone, Samsung Malaysia is also introducing its Galaxy Tab A7 Lite tablet. Priced at RM699, it comes with an 8.7″ screen, stereo speakers and a large 5,100mAh battery.
