Malaysia has recorded 7,703 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 587,165. There are 126 new COVID-19 deaths reported today which is a new record high since the start of the pandemic. The current death toll is 2,993.
The Ministry of Health has reported 5,777 new recoveries and a total of 501,898 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 85.48% while the mortality rate is now 0.51%.
There are currently 82,274 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 878 are in ICU while 441 require respiratory support.
Out of the 7,703 new cases today, 2 are imported while 7,701 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 2,728 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 701 cases, Sarawak with 588 cases and Johor with 554 cases.
