COVID-19: New record-high 9,020 cases and 98 deaths today, 2,836 in Selangor and 907 in Kelantan

After recording 8,290 cases yesterday, Malaysia has reported 9,020 new COVID-19 cases today which is a new record high. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases to 558,534. The country has also reported a record-high 98 deaths today, bringing the death toll to 2,650. In this month alone, a total of 1,144 people have died due to COVID-19.

There are 5,527 recoveries today and a total of 479,666 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate has dipped to 85.88% while the mortality rate is at 0.47%.

There are currently 76,218 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 844 cases are in ICU with 430 requiring respiratory support.

Out of the 9,020 cases reported today, 5 are imported while 9,015 are transmitted locally. According to the breakdown, Selangor records the most with 2,836 cases, followed by Kelantan with 907 cases, Negeri Sembilan with 898 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 789 cases.
