AstraZeneca Round 2 is now closed, over 1.2 million doses have been booked

[ UPDATE 26/05/2021 23:00 ]: CITF apologises for technical issues faced by users this afternoon. A total of 956,609 doses were fully booked within an hour. More details here.

At 1.23pm today, all remaining AstraZeneca vaccines under Round 2 are fully booked after it was made available to adults below 60 years old at noon this afternoon. It is estimated that about a million doses were booked in less than 90 minutes. This is a record-breaking feat as the first round of booking with over 260,000 doses up for grabs took about 3 hours and 20 minutes to be fully snapped up.

The Vaksincovid.gov.my website had experienced a lot of issues since 12pm today and the online booking was delayed until 12.15pm. Eventually, the page is up at around 12.23pm but many including our team members had struggled to load the list of available slots.

At 12.56pm, JKJAV updated that over 300,000 slots have been booked. Some had refreshed too many times until they were blocked or restricted by Cloudflare.

Despite the complaints shared online, it appears there are a significant number of people who managed to secure their vaccine slots. Within the SoyaCincau team that tried to book today, only one out of six had managed to secure their slot.

There are over 1.24 million doses available for the AstraZeneca Round 2 opt-in programme. Initially open for individuals aged 60 years old and above, a total of 228,347 slots have been booked by senior citizens as of yesterday.

Vaccinations for Round 2 will begin from 7th June until 27th July 2021. It will be administered at 8 centres located in 5 states which include:

  • Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Pulau Pinang
  • Persada Johor International Convention Center, Johor Bahru
  • Borneo Convention Center Kuching, Sarawak
  • Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara Miri, Sarawak
  • World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur
  • Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur
  • Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Selangor
  • Ideal Convention Centre, Shah Alam, Selangor

If you have successfully booked your slot, you will receive a notification which includes the actual vaccination time. You’ll have to confirm the appointment within 48 hours via MySejahtera.
